No grinder is perfect, and I certainly don't want to imply that the Haus is, for espresso the grind quality is good, and the adjustment is "usable", tighter adjustment, even if only slightly would make life easier on that front.

I'm kind of glad I'm out of the market for the time being (although that new Mahlkonig Vario looks great if it ever finally gets released).

I take your point on the 18s, 26s, 34s etc. and as you say dosing a little more or less will add limitless variables. The ease of use for switching between grinds is a great plus for anyone seeking a multi-purpose grinder too.

You are of course coming from the world of stepless grinders - even at 8s - we're talking 1 notch increments 10s, 18s, 26s, 34s, 42s (although it's not THAT linear). Add or subtract a gram or two from the dose to further refine it. In the end though I'd definitely call it a multi-purpose grinder, intended for someone who uses French Press or drip or vac as much if not more than espresso. If you do 90% espresso, it may not be the grinder for you. This is why I own 2 grinders I guess.

A great comprehensive review as usual, well done, good reading.

"On a 14-15g dose, one adjustment step equated to about a 7-8 second increase or decrease in shot time to 2oz" - Wow, that's a big change in pour time for one increment! I'd be wary if that if I was considering a purchase.
